What you need to know about American Horror Story Season 6 on FX.

American Horror Story Season 6 Latest News

A new promo has arrived for the mysterious sixth season of American Horror Story. No, we still have no idea what this season is going to be about, but this one's a pretty cool one at that. Check it out below:

American Horror Story Season 6 Trailer

666 is the number of the beast and American Horror Story season 6 dropped 6 premonitions of things to come with 6 teaser-trailers designed to cast a spell that will keep us fascinated until AHS returns to FX on September 14.

Spot No. 1 –  “What’s Cooking”

The first clip is just a static shot of a farmhouse. It evokes the Wizard of Oz as it straddles the colorless void of a coming storm. It ends with a minor orgasm of moans culminating in a Texas Chainsaw Massacre ejaculation.

Spot No. 2 – “Sunset Stroll”

Set against a soundtrack reminiscent of the vocalist in Star Trek, this teaser looks like it was made from found footage at a farm family picnic. But it doesn’t look like they brought potato salad. The trio appears to be otherworldly and possessed of second sight.  All the better to see you with.

Spot No. 3 – “Post Op”

Never let it be said that the American Horror Story folks lack a sense of humor. This graphic spot tells of the importance of proper care and maintenance after head stapling. Four out of five doctors recommend patients "keep it dry." The other works at Briarcliff Manor.

Spot No. 4 – “Lullaby”

Lullabies are always as creepy as they are soothing to me. But this is one I can sleep to, The Countess had a baby last season and Lady Gaga can sing anyone to sleep. The knife of Damocles is hanging over this kid’s head.

Spot No. 5 – “The Descent”

Anyone who has ever been a kid who has ever lived in house with a basement knows to run really fast up the last few stairs. This promo sheds a dark light on why but leads us quickly down the stairs into darkness.

Spot No. 6 – “Milli Crossing”

This one might bug you. But remember American Horror Story Season 6 is set on a farm and there are as many millipedes in farmhouses as there are legs on millipedes.

Usually Fox doesn't let us see American Horror Story until October, not not this year! American Horror Story Season 6 will make its first ever early season bow when it arrives on September 14th. We still have virtually no clue what this season is actually about.

We do know a little about the cast, though, so...

American Horror Story Season 6 Cast

We know Golden Globe winner Lady Gaga is set to return, but little else is known about the American Horror Story season 6 cast. One actor who did confirm his participation is Leslie Jordan. The actor didn't go into detail about the extent of his role in the upcoming season, but he does reveal that he was almost an AHS regular after appearing in Coven. He told Washington Blade:

I’m booked all summer, then on July 7, I go back to American Horror Story with Lady Gaga, isn’t that fun? I did one season on “Coven.” They offered me another season but I got offered a reality show in London and I needed the money. Let me tell you, those reality shows pay a lot of money. So I turned down “Freak Show,” biggest mistake of my life. I didn’t think Mr. (Ryan) Murphy would want me again because I turned him down, but he did.

American Horror Story is in the past for leading lady Jessica Lange, who confirmed to Charlie Rose that she has little desire to return to the horror anthology:

No, I think … you know, I had four years with that, four seasons. And each year was a marvelous character; everything changed from one year to another, which made it very interesting for me. But … no. Sometimes you come to the end of something, and it has had its natural [course].

Lange is still working the the Ryan Murphy hit factory. She'll appear on his new FX anthology, Fued. Lange appeared in the first four seasons of American Horror Story, earning four Emmy nominations, and winning for lead actress in 2014 and best supporting actress in 2012.

American Horror Story Season 6 Plot

We're still waiting for the title and premise of American Horror Story season 6.

Us Weeklyciting an unnamed source, reported the new season could be based on an internet meme called Slender Man and the script came from outside the AHS writers room. A new report from ENews refutes the Us Weekly report, saying that the idea for AHS season 6 comes from something "hinted about" in prior seasons.

That's a shame, because Slender Man would be a pretty badass character for the new season. The character is a lanky, faceless stalker in a nice suit and was created by Eric Knudsen in 2009. Soon after, the meme took on a life of its own in internet fiction circles. A number of tragic, real life crimes have said to been influenced by Slender Man, making the lore all the more creepy. That's someting AHS does pretty well.

American Horror Story coming back for season 6 means this Ryan Murphy guy won’t go away. The showrunner with a stable of television dramas only Shonda Rhimes can dare to match is still pumping out hits from the underappreciated Nip/Tuck and the teen cult-hit Glee to Fox’s polarizing Scream Queens and the breakout hit of 2016, American Crime Story. Yet it’s Murphy’s take on anthology horror that could define his legacy as a television auteur.

At TCAs, we got our first glimpse of what American Horror Story season 6 will look like. FX President John Landgraf said that season 6 would be “set in the present” with “echoes of the past” mixed in. “It’s set in two time periods, but principally in the present.” He then joked that Ryan Murphy would kill him if he teased anything else about the new season.

Back in November when FX renewed the horror anthology, Landgraf issued a statement on what AHS means to the network: “With the sixth installment coming next year, American Horror Story has unquestionably joined the ranks of television’s landmark series,” he said. “From Murder House to Hotel, AHS has pioneered a new television form as well becoming FX’s highest rated show -- while also pushing every conceivable boundary of creative excellence and audacity. This is even more remarkable because Ryan and co-creator Brad Falchuk tear up the playbook every year, challenging the entire creative team to come up with something even more spectacular, frightful and entertaining. You could not ask more of an artist, their team or a series and with every new installment they deliver.”

American Horror Storyearned 71 Emmy nominations and 13 wins through its first four seasons. Critical and fan reception has tapered off as of late, but ratings are still strong for FX as “Hotel” is averaging more weekly viewers than last year’s “Freak Show.”
