John Krasinski will save the world in the upcoming Amazon series Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan.
Amazon announced that it gave the go-ahead for the 10-episode series Tom Clancy‘s Jack Ryan. The series, which is being produced by Paramount and Skydance Television will star The Office’s John Krasinski as the CIA agent that was featured in such books and films as The Hunt for Red October, Patriot Games and Red Rabbit
In the series Ryan will uncover a pattern in terrorist communication. He will be launched into the center of a dangerous game as the new breed of terrorism threatens global destruction. Amazon calls Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan a "reinvention with a modern sensibility."
According to the official synopsis:
"Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan follows an up-and-coming CIA analyst thrust into a dangerous field assignment for the first time. Set to executive produce are Carlton Cuse (Lost, Bates Motel) and Graham Roland (Almost Human), who wrote the pilot based on a story he and Cuse developed. The series follows Ryan (Krasinski) as he uncovers a pattern in terrorist communication that launches him into the center of a dangerous gambit with a new breed of terrorism that threatens destruction on a global scale.
“We’re excited to add the Jack Ryan global franchise to our robust originals pipeline,” Amazon Studios head Roy Price, said in a statement. “Our customers will enjoy a compelling adaptation of the action-packed spy thriller book series, further raising the bar for the quality level of storytelling that has made Prime Video a leading destination for content.”

Tom Clancy died in 2013, but his spy character has been incarnated in movies and video games. This is the first TV series to feature the long-running character. Jack Ryan has been played by Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford, Ben Affleck and Chris Pine.
Paramount made five Jack Ryan movies starting in 1990 with The Hunt For Red October starring Baldwin up to the most recent, Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit, which starred Pine, in 2013.
Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan will be written by Carlton Cuse (Lost, Bates Motel) and Graham Roland (Almost Human)/ Executive producer Roland wrote the pilot based on a story he developed with Cuse. Michael Bay, Brad Fuller, Andrew Form (Transformers, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles), David Ellison, Mace Neufeld and Lindsey Springer will also executive produce along with Mace Neufeld (Patriot Games, Clear and Present Danger, The Sum of All Fears and Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit) and Lindsey Springer
The series reunites Krasinski with Bay after their work together in the feature 13 Hours.
Amazon’s Jack Ryan series was ordered to series without a pilot stage. The studio also did this for Woody Allen’s Crisis In Six Scenes and David E. Kelley’s Goliath.
Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan will shoot in the U.S., Europe and Africa.
