Del Rio has been suspended 30 days for a Wellness Policy violation ...

WWE suspended Alberto Del Rio for 30 days on Wednesday, citing his first failure under WWE's Wellness Policy. According to a statement on WWE's website, the suspension will officially begin tomorrow (Aug. 18).

"WWE has suspended Jose Rodriguez (Alberto Del Rio) for 30 days effective tomorrow, Thursday, Aug. 18, for his first violation of the company’s talent wellness policy," a simple statement from WWE read.

Del Rio was not scheduled to have a match at SummerSlam this upcoming weekend. This is the second high-profile suspension under the Wellness Policy in less than two months after Roman Reigns was suspended for his first violation of the policy back in June.

WWE did not release the specific reason for Del Rio's suspension, but WWE's policy covers everything from performance-enhancing drugs to street drugs and other substances which may be obtained legally with a prescription (a talent is typically suspended if they test positive for a substance with a valid prescription).

Del Rio wrestled on SmackDown this past Tuesday, losing to John Cena.
