With Scandal season 6 on the way, here's what we know about the upcoming season...
"What if you're wrong?" yells Fitz as the first Scandal season 6 trailer shows us the results are coming for a highly anticipated election. We've been there before, right? With the luxuary of time, Scandal will get to follow the actual presidential election and we'll see if Shonda Rhimes can top the dramatic outcome of a Donald Trump upset.
It's unlikely, but hey, it's Scandal. Anything is possible on this show. It's reflected in the show's new poster and tagline: "The balance of power is about to shift."
Scandal Season 6 Release Date
Scandal began life as a spring/summer show, but since then it has stuck to the traditional late September/early October premiere window.
It's now been confirmed that Scandal season 6 premieres on Thursday, January 19th. Ahead of ABC's upfront presentation, it was announced that the network was going to break up its TGIT/Shonda Rhimes lineup as they'll give Kerry Washington time to recover from her real-life pregnancy.
Scandal season 6 will now drop in January, but according to Shonda Rhimes, this isn't the beginning of the end. The showrunner and queen of ABC Thursdays took to Twitter to address rumors of season six being the finale season:

Scandal Season 6 Episodes
Did the Scandal season 5 finale leave you breathless? Well, we've got good news and bad news. The good news is that Scandal season 6 is definitely happening at ABC (who had a Red Wedding-esque cancellation fest recently).
The bad news is that there will be fewer episodes. Instead of the usual 22 episode season, TV Line reports that Scandal season 6 will only have 16 episodes.
