Legends of Tomorrow Season 2 is in production, and just unveiled the details of the other superhero team it features.
Legends of Tomorrow Season 2 is speeding your way with a Justice Society theme and more timey-wimey shenanigans. Here's everything we know about it so far!
The words "Justice Society of America" were spoken for the first time in the DC TV Universe during the Legends of Tomorrow season 2 finale when Patrick J. Adams showed up as Hourman. And you don't just blow into a finale and namedrop the first superhero team in history if you don't intend to capitalize on it, right?
With that in mind, we now know that Legends of Tomorrowwill feature a full roster of Justice Society members. In addition to the already announced Hourman and Nate "Citizen Steel" Heywood (not an original member, but someone carrying a founder's legacy), we're also going to meet Obsidian (notable for being original Green Lantern Alan Scott's son), Stargirl, and Doctor Mid-Nite. What's more, the "new" Vixen (who is actually a version of the character from the 1940s) will be a Justice Society member.
So, with Nick Zano playing a founding JSA member's legacy, we might want to know more about the founder, right? Well, iZombie's Matthew MacCaull will play Henry Heywood Sr. (Nate's grandfather), the original Commander Steel! No other details are available right now, but add another JSA member to the roundtable! (hat tip to EW for this news)
We wrote more about how the JSA fits into this season right here.
Legends of Tomorrow Season 2 Villains
But there will be plenty of villains to go around, too! Matt Letscher, who we first met as the Reverse-Flash on The Flash Season 2 (and who returns for season three) will be a series regular on Legends of Tomorrow Season 2. Wentworth Miller and John Barrowman will make Legends appearances as Malcolm Merlyn and Captain Cold, as will Neal McDonough as Damien Darkh.
“For season two of Legends, we decided that the perfect antagonist for TV’s first-ever team of Super Heroes would be TV’s first-ever team of Super-Villains, recruited from the ranks of Arrow and The Flash’s deadliest adversaries," executive producer Marc Guggenheim said. "Being huge fans of the Challenge of the Superfriends, we’ve come to call this group our ‘Legion of Doom.’”
I'll have more details on how the Justice Society will relate to the Legendsteam in the next day or so. We've got a lot of interviews to transcribe from SDCC!
