Michael Showalter confirms Netflix’s continuation of the ultra-silly camp comedy is set to return next summer.

It came as a pleasant surprise when Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp turned out to be a satisfying endeavor for fans of the original cult comedy. With the success of First Day of Camp, it’s only natural that Netflix would try to return to Camp Firewood for more shenanigans if it could secure its all-star cast for another season. Netflix confirmed Wet Hot American Summer season 2 back in April, picking up a sequel for eight episodes. The next incarnation of the series is called 10 Years Later, playing with time in a fun way, just like before.
Details about the sequel have been sparse other than a few casting announcements, but in a conversation with Den of Geek about his new series, Search Party, Wet Hot American Summer co-writer Michael Showalter gave a few hints regarding the status of the new series.
The big one: They’re almost done shooting. The bigger one: The new series will hit Netflix next summer.
Showalter elaborated on the joy of fleshing out the Wet Hot universe:
“Purely, creatively, it's been great,” Showalter said. “It’s a dream come true to continue to build this world and continue working with these people that I've been working with my entire life.”
He continues on a little about the new season: “It's just so fun and organic and every time we bring in a new character, we're like, ‘Oh God, we could do a whole season on just this one person!’”

The niche, cult comedy film from 2001 ended up turning into a successful property with an impressive group of writing and acting talent willing to come back and participate.
As for what to expect from 10 Years Later? Give me a season of Josh Charles’ Blake, please. I’d gladly have that. Or maybe the son of Jim Stansel from First Day of Camp? We’ll know by next summer!
