While Mark Gatiss has indeed penned a new script for Doctor Who series 10, it might not be what you expected. Late in series 9, Gatiss teased that he was interested in writing a sequel to last year's "Sleep No More," the episode featuring the Sandmen in a mockumentary romp across a space station. It'd been assumed that the sequel to that episode would arrive this year. Now Gatiss has confirmed that's not the case after a fake episode list hit Twitter.

What will Gatiss' hour serve up, then? It's a mystery at the moment. As CultBox notes, he previously teased it by saying this: “We’ve not even explored the whole of Britain, never mind the universe, and if you imagine doing a story in Robert Louis Stevenson’s Edinburgh, or India – things like that, I think, can make each episode very distinctive, so I’d love to do more like that, I suppose, and just keep reinventing.”

Doctor Who Season 10 Release Date
Doctor Who series 10 will premiere in Spring 2017, but there WILL be at least one new Doctor Who episode in 2016 in the form of this year's Christmas special. So the wait isn't THAT unbearable...
Spotted by our pals over at Cultbox is this short fan video by @CreativeCatFX filmed on the set of Doctor Who series 10, which features Peter Capaldi meeting and greeting young fans.
Asked by a fan when the Doctor would be making a return to BBC One, Capaldi replies, "We'll be on at Christmas and then it starts again in April, I think."
That narrows down the BBC's previous "spring 2017" start date announcement to the show's traditional month of April. Good stuff.
