Goldie Hawn and Amy Schumer are a comedic dream team in Snatched.

After months of secrecy and Instagram teases, 20th Century Fox dropped the first trailers for Amy Schumer’s new film Snatched.
As the trailer reveals, Amy Schumer gets dumped suddenly and convinces her type-A mother, the iconic Goldie Hawn, to go on an adventure with her in South America. After a night of handsome strangers and stuff drinks, the trip quickly goes south when they get, as Schumer’s character puts it, “Liam Neeson taken.”
Snatched is Hawn’s first onscreen debut since The Banger Sisters back in 2002. Schumer and Hawn are the mother/daughter action comedy team we never knew we needed, but most definitely needed all along. In the trailer, Schumer is tight with her regular give-zero-fucks rambunctiousness. It’s classic Schumer that is only highlighted by having a sidekick like Hawn there to riff with her.
The trailer reveal comes right after the news that Schumer is set to take on the lead in Sony’s live-action Barbie film, which garnered a lot of negative comments about Schumer and her appearance. The Snatched trailer highlights Schumer’s talents and might serve as a much needed distraction from all the social media backlash.
If nothing else, it will definitely be interesting to see Schumer in an action comedy role after playing a single party girl in her last flick, Trainwreck.

The film is Directed by Jonathan Levine (50/50) and originally penned by Katie Dippold, the woman behind The Heat and Ghostbusters. However, Schumer and Kim Caramele— her sister and writing partner— gave the script a rewrite when the Trainwreck star decided to take up the lead. The film also stars Christopher Meloni (Law & Order: Special Victims Unit), Ike Barinholtz (The Mindy Project), Óscar Jaenada (The Shallows) and Wanda Sykes.
Snatched will premiere in theaters on Mother’s Day weekend.
