We’ve spent the last year trying to figure out who exactly Jack Bauer’s heir apparent is on Fox’s 24 spinoff, 24: Legacy. We know CTU’s new hero, Eric Carter, is played by Corey Hawkins. The character is a former Army ranger and war hero responsible for a mission to take out a major terrorist leader. Back on the homefront, the spinoff will throw Carter into a national security crisis.
Fans will get the same breakneck pace of 24 that made the series a hit, but it will return with a new spin on the man at the center of the action.
“I think he does [have similar traits to Jack Bauer],” Hawkins told us in an interview at San Diego Comic Con. “You sort of have to. He’s a hero, an American hero, a soldier. He exemplifies the best of that. Because he’s a soldier, the rules are different on the homefront. Over the course of the season, you see him adjust from being a soldier to civilian life."
In many ways, the character is shaping up to be a departure from Jack Bauer. In an exclusive clip from Fox, we get some insight from the cast and producers on who Eric Carter is and how he’ll handle threats differently than his predecessor.
