Better Call Saul, the prequel of the immensely popular Breaking Bad, has achieved the rare feat of being a prequel that serves as a worthy companion to the original series while offering enough story, charm, and style to stand firmly on its own.

Better Call Saul Season 3 is on its way on AMC and we've got all of the news you need before you find yourself back in the ABQ in 2017.

Better Call Saul Season 3 News: The Latest

Gene is back! EW has a first-look at set photos from Better Call Saul season 3.

Better Call Saul Season 3 Plot

Season 2 of Better Call Saul concluded with Jimmy using some of his old techniques to wrestle the Mesa Verde account away from his brother Chuck and back into the hands of Kim. After the dust had cleared, Chuck and Jimmy had a heart to heart in which Jimmy admitted to illegal activity. Little did Jimmy know, the whole conversation was being recorded.

Meanwhile, Mike's storyline saw him almost take out the aging drug dealer Hector Salamanca, but an ominous warning on his car windshield of "DON'T" proved that his plot hadn't gone unnoticed.

Clearly, Season 3 will continue the battle of the Brothers McGill, but just who is the mystery man watching Mike? All signs point to Breaking Bad villain and drug kingpin Gus Fring, but that may be wishful thinking.

We also know from some early set photos that will be spending more time with Jimmy's alter-ego. No, not Saul Goodman, but Gene, the Cinnabon employee from Omaha, Nebraska, the identity that Jimmy assumes after his adventures with Heisenberg. Perhaps there's trouble in witness protection?

Better Call Saul Season 3 Cast

Expect all of the prinicpal cast of Better Call Saul to return, but the real question on everyone's mind is who will make an appearance from the Breaking Bad timeline?

Gilligan recently gave an interview to IGN.com in which he confirmed that fans had correctly noticed that every first letter of the season 2 episode titles read, "Fring's Back," so it's not unreasonable to expect to see Giancarlo Esposito back in his most famous role.

Other Breaking Bad alumni want in on the fun too. Betsy Brandt, who played Marie Schrader, told the Huffington Post that a cameo has been "discussed," but really, Dean Norris, who played DEA Agent Hank Schrader, seems like he'd be a better fit for this world.

And though Bryan Cranston has been rumored to be directing an episode of the upcoming season, there's been no word on whether we'll get a glimpse of Walter White.

Better Call Saul Season 3 Release Date

Better Call Saul Season 3 will consist of 10 episodes, and will probably arrive in early 2017. Keep up with all our Better Call Saul features and interviews while you wait!
