Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders marks the return of Adam West’s iconic 1960s TV Batman.

Update (8/23): Holy Nostalgia, Batman! We have a new trailer!!!

Indeed, Warner Bros. Animation has released its first full trailer of Adam West, Burt Ward, and Julie Newmar back in their beloved roles of Batman, Robin, and Catwoman, as seen in the Batman TV series that debuted in 1966! In the below trailer, it looks as though the villains of Catwoman, the Joker, Penguin, and the Riddler have reunited to crash a taping of an Ed Sullivan-esque show where they will wreak havoc. Ruh-roh.

Original Story (8/17): While names like Keaton, Kilmer, Clooney, Bale and now Affleck are associated with DC Comics’ nocturnal ass-kicking, gadget-rocking detective Batman, most will back the notion that the one and only Adam West remains innately synonymous with the perpetual pop-culture icon. Thus, the man who helped cement that character’s status during the “same bat-time, same, bat-channel” on the 1966 to 1968 Batman TV series, reprises the role… in animated form, anyway!

A teaser trailer for the upcoming animated movie Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders has surfaced on EW, showcasing nostalgia-filled fun with the classic over-the-top setups and obligatory interjections that begin with “holy” that fans remember. Indeed, by way of voice acting, Caped Crusaders marks the role reprisal return of not only Adam West’s Batman, but also the other surviving TV show cast members such the man, the myth, the legend Burt Ward as Batman’s faithful sidekick Robin and Julie Newmar as the purring, scintillating thief Catwoman. Additionally, the classic 1960s Dynamic Duo will battle repertory villains such as the Joker, Riddler and Penguin. Plus, Batman makes the provocative push that said battles will occur "on Earth and in space."

The trailer for Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders isn’t so much a “trailer,” but rather, a random short designed to illustrate the classic-style scenarios in which Batman and Robin will find themselves that always prove detrimentally ostentatious to the villain. Certainly, the idea of some dastardly rogue having the Dynamic Duo at his/her mercy, opting to tie them up and bake them on a giant lunch tray, rather than just immediately unburdening themselves of their heroic meddling is about as Batman ’66 as it gets. Yet, the scenario in the teaser clip might not be part of the film, since the fourth wall quickly plummets when the crime-fighters start plugging the Blu-ray before they’ve even escaped the oven's embarrassingly slow conveyor belt. – Yeah, they escape. Did I really spoil it for you?

Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders will be ready to “BIFF-BANG-POW!” baddies on your Blu-ray player or Digital HD delivery device when the animated movie is released on October 11. In the meantime, check out the insanely old-school teaser trailer for the movie below!
