Former video clerk goes back to his 80s roots in Batman-themed Goldbergs episode.

Clerksdirector Kevin Smith will explore his comic book store clerk dogma bringing his talents to ABC’s '80s nostalgia sitcom The Goldbergs. Smith will direct the episode “Dynamic Duo” which deals with the excitement generated by Tim Burton’s 1989 blockbuster comic book superhero reboot Batman.
"I grew up watching the Adam West Batman and I was in a sold out movie theater for Tim Burton's Batman on opening day, June 23rd, 1989, so I can't wait to recreate those early eras of Bat-amania in the Goldbergs Universe," Smith told IGN. "Luckily, the funny folks in front of and behind the cameras who make this hysterical show every week will be doing all the heavy lifting in our time travel experiment."
Smith will bring his extensive comic knowledge to the job, which he's been doing with superhero TV shows like The Flash and an upcoming episode of Supergirl.
The Goldbergs creator Adam F. Goldberg is on record as being a “weirdo geek super fan” of Kevin Smith, even admitting that he waited in lines to get copies of Smith’s Bluntman andChronic comics signed.
The Goldbergs airs Wednesday nights on ABC. Smith’s episode will air sometime this Spring. The episode begins filming next week.
