It's not exactly Constantine Season 2, but we'll take it! Matt Ryan will return for the CW animated series!

Well, fans are getting ConstantineSeason 2 after all. Kinda. The CW revealed today that Matt Ryan will return as John Constantine for an animated series on the CW Seed, which is currently home to the Vixenanimated series, and an upcoming series based on Freedom Fighters member, The Ray.
There are some big names involved with this one. For one thing, Arrow-verse godfather Greg Berlanti will serve as executive producer, and David S. Goyer will apparently do some writing for the show as well. And, of course, bringing Matt Ryan back to voice the title character makes perfect sense, as he was a brilliant embodiment of John Constantine on the short-lived NBC TV series.

This is great news for fans who felt cheated by how NBC handled the one season of Constantinethat they had. There was a huge upswell of fan support to try and make ConstantineSeason 2 happen, whether on NBC or another network, but it sadly wasn't enough. Mr. Ryan reprised his role on an episode of Arrowlast year, which was a nice treat, and he'll next be seen leading the animated Justice League Dark movie.
This announcement was just one part of a big day of news from the CW out of the TCA Winter Tour, which included renewals for other superhero shows Supergirl, The Flash, Arrow, and Legends of Tomorrow. No word yet on when we'll actually see the Constantine animated series, but it should arrive later this year.
