Fleabag was one of our favorite TV shows of 2016, and that obviously had a lot to do with its creator and star Phoebe Waller-Bridge. Ths is why we're so glad to hear that Waller-Bridge will be penning a spy drama for BBC America. More TV from Waller-Bridge has to be a good thing...

According to CultBox, BBC America has ordered an eight-episode season of Killing Ever, an assassin drama based on the novellas by Luke Jennings and written by Waller-Bridge. Killing Eve is a "thriller revolving around a psychopathic assassin and the woman charged with hunting her down." Waller-Bridge will serve both as showrunner and executive producer.

BBC America president Sarah Barnett said about the upcoming series:

Killing Eve is a brilliantly fresh take on the cat and mouse thriller from Phoebe Waller-Bridge, a major new talent in television. Underneath the deceptively simple and entertaining surface is a subversive, funny, obsessive relationship between two women, that plays out across some of the most and least glamorous locations imaginable.

It's unclear whether or not Waller-Bridge will play one of the show's main characters (though we would be for that). Either way, it's wonderful to see Waller-Bridge given more writing opportunities. She proved herself a unique and necessary talent with international hit Fleabag, a dark comedy about one British woman's self-destrutive struggles following the death of her best friend. The show made it onto many critic's "best of" lists for the last year.

In 2016, Waller-Bridge also penned Channel 4 comedy Crashing, if you're looking for another Waller-Bridge fix while you wait for Killing Eve.
