Daniel Handler is already mapping out what A Series of Unfortunate Events Season 2 would look like...
Though we have yet to get an official announcement of A Series of Unfortunate Events Season 2 from Netflix, it sounds very likely that the adaptation of the bestselling children's book series will get at least 10 more episodes.
A Series of Unfortunate Events Season 2
Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Daniel Handler (aka Lemony Snicket himself), confirmed that he and the other A Series of Unfortunate Events writers have already begun work on A Series of Unfortunate Events Season 2, ahead of the A Series of Unfortunate Events Season 1 release.
Handler said of a second season:
I am deep in season 2. I’ve been working in my own dining room with a team of writers I’m really loving on the next season, and we hope to get the go-ahead to do season 3, which… given how quickly young actors age and change, we’re trying to film everything as quickly as possible.
For real. Those kids aren't going to stay pint-sized forever.
A Series of Unfortunate Events Season 2 Story
Handler also spoke about which books the 10-episode season 2 would focus on, teasing:
The second season is laid out to be 10 episodes for the next five books, so it ends on The Carnivorous Carnival, and the third season would be the rest of it ...
It’s nice to go into something that hasn’t been adapted before. There’s a little feeling of, you have to be this tall to ride this ride.
A Series of Unfortunate Events Season 3
From the above comments, it sounds like Netflix is not only optimistic about a season 2, but also tentatively interested in a third season. However, while a Season 2 seems like a relatively sure thing, Season 3 might be more dependent on how the first two seasons perform.
