Marvel's The Defenders are about to look a whole lot more like their Netflix counterparts.

When Netflix first announced their partnership with Marvel Studios to make a batch of interlocking series, all leading to a team-up known as The Defenders, comic fans noticed one thing: Daredevil, Iron Fist, Luke Cage, and Jessica Jones were never actually members of that team.

Not that anyone was complaining. After all, the thought of getting Doctor Strange, The Hulk, Valkyrie, Nighthawk, and other more offbeat heroes together seemed almost as unlikely as Guardians of the Galaxy once did. But instead, Netflix's Defenders will serve as the street-level counterpart to the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Avengers. But what about Marvel's Defenderscomics?

Well, it looks like that lineup is going to look more like the TV one this summer. Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist will all team up in a new Defenders ongoing series from writer Brian Michael Bendis, with art by David Marquez.

Here's what Marvel has to say about the series:

Some of the darkest days await Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and Iron Fist, but THE DEFENDERS are ready to plant their feet, and fight back-to-back against one of the most epic wars the streets of NYC have ever encountered and stand resolute against an attack so personal that it will challenge our heroes at their very core and everyone they have ever cared about.

“As opposed to other more global or galactic Super Hero groups, the Defenders are very much focused on the streets, on the neighborhoods, on the community,” says SVP, Executive Editor, Tom Brevoort in a statement. “Their battles are no less fiercely fought or consequential, but the arena is a very different one, and the stakes more personal. Brian will be building upon the relationships that he established years ago in NEW AVENGERS to create something unique and primary within the Marvel Universe.”

“[THE DEFENDERS] is a smorgasbord of everything I truly love about Marvel Comics,” said writer Brian Michael Bendis. “And to keep the team of David [Marquez], Justin [Ponsor], and myself together for another creative challenge is so exciting!  We’ve been planning this book for well over a year and we’re so excited to show you what we think the next phase of the gritty Marvel streets will have to offer.”

The Defenders#1 hits the streets in June.
