John Ridley and Idris Elba reunite for Showtime's upcoming British civil rights period drama.

Citizen or visitor, if you stand up for what's yours, they treat you like a criminal. The first trailer was released for John Ridley’s limited series Guerilla, a U.K.-based 1970s civil rights drama with a love story at its center. The series stars Idris Elba and will run on Showtime and Sky networks.
Here is the first-look trailer:
Guerrilla is “a love story set against the backdrop of one of the most politically explosive times in U.K. history,” according to its official synopsis.
“It tells the story of a politically active couple whose relationship and values are tested when they liberate a political prisoner and form a radical underground cell in 1970s London. Their ultimate target becomes the Black Power Desk, a true-life, secretive counter-intelligence unit within Special Branch dedicated to crushing all forms of black activism.”
“We’re excited to partner with our friends at Sky to bring a fascinating and unexplored story spearheaded by John and Idris, two major creative talents at the top of their game,” said David Nevins, president and chief executive officer, Showtime Networks Inc. “Guerrilla will surely keep our audience at their edge of their seats.”

Elba has been nominated for four Emmys. He starred on The Wire and Luther. His work on the Netflix feature film Beasts of No Nationfrom last year got him nominated for a Golden Globe award. His upcoming movies include Star trek: Beyondand The Dark Tower.
Guerilla is co-produced by Fifty Fathoms and ABC Signature.
