Everything is just peachy in Donald Glover’s hometown. Georgia remains the realest state, and FX is buying up more real estate after confirming Atlanta season 2.

That's not the only good news for Donald Glover. FX signed the multi-talented creator to an overall deal. Typcially these deals, like FX's deal with Man Seeking Woman creator Simon Rich, are for someone like Glover to help shape the network's future programming. There's an interesting nugget in the announcement that will see Glover help develop shows for "other networks and streaming services." Could there be another announcement for FX brewing?

In the meantime, FX pushed Atlanta season 2 back to 2018. This likely has more to do with the increasingly busy Glover's role as Lando Calrissian in the Young Han Solo Star Wars standalone film.

The decision to pick up Atlanta for a sophomore season, as first reported by Variety, was an easy one for FX. After developing the show for nearly three years, FX is clearly relieved to see that critics and fans agree: Atlanta is a hit. The series premiered to three million total viewers, making it FX’s highest comedy debut since 2011.

Here's everything we know about Atlanta season 2...

Atlanta Season 2 News: ATL is Golden

Critics have raved about Atlanta (you can read our review here) and the series is already earning Earn some serious love in Hollywood. Donald Glover won a Best Performance Golden Globe award and the series took home the globe for Best TV Comedy.

In Glover's speech, he thanked the people of Atlanta and rap trio and guest stars, Migos.

Atlanta Season 2 Release Date

No premiere date is set, but FX announced at the TCA Winter Tour that we'll see Atlanta season 2 sometime in 2018.

Atlanta Season 2 Cast and Plot

It’s anyone’s guess as to what going to come out of the mind of Donald Glover for Atlanta’s sophomore run.Glover is going to take a hard look at the reception of the show before moving on to season two according to an interview with Adweek.

"I don't want to sit there and be like, 'Oh, I don't care what the audience thinks.' It does matter to me. I just want them to think, to be honest. I want them to think about it," Glover said. "I think Season 2 will be affected by how people take in the food we're giving them, essentially. I don't know what that means, but I want to see how it all fits with them. Because I think that's part of our making art is that we're in this together. It's a dance, really."

Glover--the series’ creator, star, and an Atlanta native--left his role as a fan-favorite on Community in 2013. Soon after, Glover began developing Atlanta and finished up his Grammy-nominated second studio album, Because the Internet, under the stage name Childish Gambino. Drawing on his experiences in the entertainment industry, Atlanta is a look at how two cousins are working to better their lives through the lens of the Atlanta music scene.

Glover plays Earn Marks, a manger who is trying to elevate his cousin Alfred’s (Brian Tyree Henry) career. Rounding out the cast is Darius (played by Lakeith Lee Stanfield), Alfred’s right-hand man and Van (Zazie Beetz) is Earn’s best friend and the mother of Earn’s daughter.
