Are you ready for Gypsy to join the super friends on Supergirl Season 2?

Well, SupergirlSeason 2 is on hiatus for a few weeks. It's been an eventful first half, culminating in Kara prominently featuring in the "Invasion!" four CW superhero show crossover. But now we have to wait until the new year to get more adventures!
And when the show comes back, expect even more new characters to join the party. But first, a familiar villain will return, season one's Livewire!
Here's the official synopsis for "We Can Be Heroes"
After Livewire (guest star Brit Morgan) seemingly breaks out of prison, Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) is intent on recapturing her. After training Mon-El (Chris Wood), Supergirl takes him with her when she sees Livewire attack the NCPD but things go awry when Mon-El puts Supergirl before the citizens of National City. Meanwhile, James (Mehcad Brooks) decides to come clean with Kara and M’Gann (guest star Sharon Leal), has a psychic attack and collapses into a coma.
This one airs on January 30. Don't forget, there's an episode before that (more info below).
And this extended trailer for the next few episodes reveals some other unfamiliar faces (and some familiar ones).
Supergirl Season 2 Return Date
So when will we see Supergirl again? That will be on Monday, January 23rd. The Supergirl return episode is called "Supergirl Lives" and it will be directed by Kevin Smith, who just did great work on The Flash with "Killer Frost."
Here's the official synopsis:
Kara (Melissa Benoist) is moved by the story of a missing woman named Izzy (guest star Harley Quinn Smith) and decides to investigate despite Snapper Carr’s (guest star Ian Gomez) order to leave it alone. Kara takes Mon-El (Chris Wood) with her to the last place Izzy was seen and the duo find themselves thrust through a portal to another planet, Slaver’s Moon, where the downtrodden are sold as slaves. The leader of the trafficking ring is none other than Roulette (guest star Dichen Lachman). To make matters worse, Slaver’s Moon has a red sun, which means Kara and Mon-El are stripped of their powers and stuck on the planet with no way home. Meanwhile, back on Earth, Alex (Chyler Leigh) blames herself for Kara’s disappearance, fearing she’s become too focused on her new relationship with Maggie (guest star Floriana Lima) and too complacent in watching out for her sister.
Here's the trailer:
And when the show returns (not with this episode, necessarily), it's bringing some old villains back with it! TV Linereports that we'll see John "Metallo" Corben (Frederick Schmidt) again, and we haven't had him around since the second episode of the year.
It was also recently announced that Superman villain Mr. Mxyzptlk will be appearing on the show later this season. He'll be played by Peter Gadiot. We have more details on that right here.
