As of yesterday, you can live the paranormal experience in horrifying viritual reality.

Do you watch horror movies with the lights off? Do you actually enjoy nightmares you could swear on the Necronomicon actually happened? Are you a haunted house junkie? Then the Stranger Things Online Experience is what you’re doing Friday night.

Netflix now wants to transplant you into the unnerving atmosphere of Stranger Things, which is haunted by spooky shadows, spotty electricity, dark woods, even darker secrets, and unexpectedly creepy Christmas lights. Not to mention peaceful suburban lawns which are only peaceful for that fraction of a second before you realize something terrible is going to happen. And you know you want to find out what.

Just find a room and a Do Not Disturb sign and strap on your Google Cardboard (you can also enter the terrifying world through your smartphone or browser by clicking the Youtube link if you dare) for a virtual reality experience so shocking, you might just go off hunting for Will Byers in the middle of the night long after you’ve taken the equipment off. You might even get a phone call with the Lovecraftian-sounding voice of something unmentionable on the other line.

If you haven’t already subjected yourself to the horrors of Stranger Things, the lastest scream-fest from Wayward Pines writers Matt and Ross Duffer stars Winona Ryder as the mother of a seventh-grader who vanishes in the garage one night after hearing an ominous gurgling that couldn’t have come from any human throat. Flashlights leading the investigation through the sleepy town of Hawkins illuminate things that should have never been brought to light.

Relive the scene that inspired this virtual horror right here, and catch the Duffer Brothers and stars Millie Brown, Caleb McLaughlin, and Gaten Matarazzo volunteering as the first victims

Please tell us the VR experience is set to the same eerily awesome 80s-throwback soundtrack as the series.

Stranger Things was a topic of discussion on the August edition of Sci Fi Fidelity on the Den of Geek Podcast Network. Listen on Soundcloud or simply play the episode below.
