At the last stop before WrestleMania, Kevin Owens goes one-on-one with Bill Goldberg in a match nobody expected to ever see.
As Rawrides on towards WrestleMania, the last big event is WWE Fastlane 2017. This will be the third Fastlanesince its introduction back in 2015. Sure, Royal Rumble lays the seeds, but it won’t be until this event that WrestleMania’s blueprints truly come together. The champions, challengers, and storylines will be just a little bit clearer once the smoke is cleared.
WHEN IS WWE FASTLANE 2017?
WWE Fastlane will take place Sunday March 5, 2017 at the Bradley Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
WWE FASTLANE 2017 MATCHES
KEVIN OWENS (C) VS. BILL GOLDBERG
WWE Universal Championship
With the Royal Rumble match deciding the title situation on SmackDown, that opened up Kevin Owens to figure out WrestleManiafor himself. He and buddy Chris Jericho figured that they would just do a friend vs. friend/champion vs. champion bout as the main event, but then they ran afoul of Goldberg. Goldberg was talking up a match with Brock Lesnar at WrestleManiaand confronted Owens about giving him a title shot at Fastlane.
Annoyed and fired up, Chris Jericho accepted the offer on behalf of Owens. This doesn’t look good for the champ, but Jericho insists that he can help him win.
ROMAN REIGNS VS. BRAUN STROWMAN
Braun Strowman’s been wanting more of a challenge, easily growing tired of crushing lesser men. In the build to Royal Rumble, he ended up having a couple run-ins with Roman Reigns. One such run-in ended with Roman and Goldberg double-spearing Braun and taking him out of the conversation. Braun had since become obsessed with smashing him and got an opportunity to at Royal Rumble, where he aided Kevin Owens in retaining his championship against Roman.
Part of the agreement was that Braun would get the next title shot. As the two battled it out, Roman appeared for the sake of attacking Braun and getting him a DQ win. Braun’s title dreams were dashed and he had to return to fighting men half his size. Frustrated with this, he got in Mick Foley’s face. Foley granted him a match against Roman at Fastlane.
NEVILLE (C) VS. JACK GALLAGHER
Cruiserweight Championship
Neville hit the Cruiserweight division like a wrecking ball and his dominance led him to defeating Rich Swann for the title. Swann was injured before he could get his rematch, so a Fatal 5-Way was put together to figure out a new #1 contender. Snazzy gentleman Jack Gallagher came out on top and will get the honors.
LIKELY AND UNANNOUNCED MATCHES
Based on their current feud, expect Charlotte vs. Bayley to be one of the matches. Considering they have a title match scheduled for the 2/13 Raw, it's up in the air over who will be champ going in.
