The Strain season 4 is happening, and this is the good news for vampire and del Toro fans. But the not-so-good news is that The Strain season 4 will be the final year of the vampire-apocalypse drama from Guillermo del Toro and Carlton Cuse. In a statement from September 2016, FX and showrunner Carlton Cuse confirmed it'd be the last year.
“After finishing the writing on Season 3, Guillermo, Chuck and I looked at our remaining story and felt the best version could be told in one more season,” Carlton Cuse said. “We have a fantastic plan for an exciting and climatic season 4. We are deeply grateful to FX for supporting our vision and for allowing us to end the show on our own timetable.”
However, as we near its final season news is starting to drip including the latest casting news that Jocelyn Hudon, a star of Syfy's LostGirl and the movie Pixels, is joining The Strain season 4. Signing up for a multi-episode arc in the show's last year, Hudon will play Abby, a woman who is described in a press release as "a young woman in a perilous circumstance, who has to use all of her skills to try and survive in an upended world."

We don't know exactly when The Strain season 4 will premiere, but we do know it always happens in late summer or early fall. So expect The Strain season 4 to arrive around August or September of 2017.
