Allison Miller, formerly of Syfy’s cancelled Incorporated, lands a lead role on ABC’s upcoming crime pilot Salamander.

While fans of Syfy’s future-set, company-dominated dystopia Incorporated recently found itself fatally downsized after just one season, one of its main stars in Allison Miller wasted no time rebounding, having already booked herself a starring television gig. Now, the actress will join an ABC pilot filled with high-tech criminal intrigue.
Deadline reports that Allison Miller has landed the female lead spot on ABC pilot Salamander. Based on a Belgian series of the same name, ABC’s Salamander will see Miller playing “Nora,” described as a brilliant Homeland Security agent and staff psychiatrist, also a former Ivy League professional with “sky-high IQ.” After the mysterious theft of 66 safety deposit boxes purportedly connected to clandestinely powerful people, Miller’s DHS agent Nora gets recruited by a character described as a “misanthropic engineer” for a perilous conspiracy-exposing endeavor. The original Belgian Salamander (whose third season is expected in 2018,) stars Filip Peeters as Paul Gerardi, a grizzled grey-hair police inspector, who, like Miller’s Nora, finds himself immersed in a deadly conspiracy from both sides of the law upon investigating a bank robbery.
ABC’s Salamander pilot will be a creative collaboration from a group of longtime television personnel in Josh Appelbaum, Scott Rosenberg, Jeff Pinker and André Nemec, all of whom worked on CBS’s sci-fi thriller series Zoo. In the director’s chair for the pilot is Gary Fleder, a longtime small screen helmer who recently was behind the camera for episodes of shows like Zoo, Guilt, Kingdom, Scorpion, TURN: Washington’s Spies and Homefront. Fleder’s (less-stacked) big screen directorial CV is most prominently represented by his 2001 psychological thriller Don’t Say a Word, which starred Michael Douglas and became a post-Clueless dramatic breakthrough for the late Brittany Murphy.
Allison Miller, whose co-starring role on Syfy’s 10-episode Incorporated came to an end after the series was rendered an early 2017 casualty, has been a prominent mainstay on television for the past decade. She’s been a major part of many sunken small screen ships such as Karen Gillan sitcom Selfie, Matthew Perry sitcom Go On, Fox’s notoriously over-budget boondoggle Terra Nova and the ambitious, biblically-based alternate world drama Kings. Fortuitously, Salamander could become her most prominent opportunity, thus far.
It will certainly be interesting to see how ABC’s adapted Salamander pilot progresses. In the meantime, check below for a trailer to the original Belgian series for context.
