Wynonna Earp season 2 is coming this summer, but in the meantime, here's other news surrounding the show.

Filming for Wynonna Earp season 2 has been underway in Alberta since mid-December 2016, and it's expected to continue into late April. This means another summer release for the fan favorite supernatural show, but until the exact month is known, this article will continue to be updated with news we discover.
Wynonna Earp Season 2 News
At Clexacon in March, showrunner Emily Andras shared with fans the news that season 1 of Wynonna Earp would be available on Netflix in May of 2017, which is always great for building buzz and bringing in new fans. Posters like the one below were handed out to convention attendees, which also included the still-inexact "summer 2017" release date.

In the meantime, fans were no doubt thrilled to hear that at the Wynonna Earp panel at San Diego Comic-Con, the sometimes dark, sometimes poignant, sometimes snarky Syfy series had been renewed for season 2. The Emily Andras show has been a favorite both of those who followed her from her Lost Girl showrunning days and for new fans of the Buffy-esque supernatural thriller.
"I'm absolutely thrilled we have the opportunity to deliver more of our witty, female-led, kickass, diverse supernatural series to our passionate fan base around the world," Andras said in a press release. Like Lost Girl before it, Wynonna Earp has made a name for itself in the LGBT community by featuring a complex and nuanced lesbian relationship as part of its character line-up.
Paired with a rich mythology, a classic treatment of good vs. evil, and a cast of characters that play well off each other, the renewal announcement was expected and welcomed both by convention-goers and the larger fandom. Although the ratings weren't always stellar, renewals on Syfy of other even lower-rated series made the show's fate hopeful.
The freshman series scored big with both critics and fans, becoming a hit on social media, spawning hashtags, and trending weekly with each new episode, and it recently nabbed the E! News TV Scoop Award for Best New Series of 2016. Wynonna Earp stars Melanie Scrofano, Shamier Anderson, Tim Rozon, and Dominique Provost-Chalkley and is based on the IDW Publishing comic book series of the same name created by Beau Smith.
Wynonna Earp Season 2 Release Date
Although little news has been shared about the production schedule or release date, having a season 2 is welcome enough news for the time being. Wynonna Earp will return in the summer of 2017 with a 12-episode run, one episode less than last season, but still an improvement over the original 10-episode order at time of renewal.
