Mr. Robot Season 3 is coming in October 2017. And Bobby Canavale will be joining the regular cast!
It’s no secret that Mr. Robot has become the prestigious dramatic centerpiece of the USA network’s scripted stable. The tone-heavy hacker drama has reaped accolades beyond expectations with wins at the 2016 Golden Globes Awards, 2016 Primetime Emmy Awards and nominations set for the 2017 Golden Globes Awards.
Thus, while the show has made some divisive turns, USA's Mr. Robot Season 3 renewal during the midst of its sophomore season wasn’t exactly a shocking revelation.
What is shocking now is how the rest of the world seems to have caught up with Mr. Robot. Mr. Robotis a very dense, intelligent and stylistic show but current events are now revealing that it might be even more prophetic and ahead of its time than previously thought. Remember the first season's tagline: "Our Democracy Has Been Hacked." Oh. That should be...should be interesting to revisit in season 3. People seem to enjoy pointing out how well The Americans reflects current events but the real show to point to might actually be Mr. Robot.
Mr. Robot Season 3 Cast Update
Recent prestige TV titan Bobby Canavale (Boardwalk Empire, Vinyl) will be joining the cast in season 3. Cannavale plays Irving, a no-nonsense used car salesman. How that role will fit into the Mr. Robot universe remains to be seen. There aren't many "normal" people without mad hacking skills among the characters so it willl be interesting to find out how Irving is involved. But if Mr. Robot found a spot for Joey Bada$$, it can find a spot for a used car salesman. Perhaps as part of Trenton and Mobley's off the grid adventure.
Additionally, BD Wong will be bumped up from recurring to full time. This has been a long time coming as his villainous Whiterose is clearly one of the most important antagonists/characters in the Mr. Robot stable.
Mr. Robot Season 3 Release Date
Mr. Robotseason 3 is inching closing to a release date! On March 10, USA Network announced that the show will premiere in October of 2017. We were previously expected a summer release but Rami Malek's busy movie schedule made that impossible to pull off. The season will start shooting in April.
