We're still waiting on Miss Fisher Season 4. Here's what we know about the potential for a fourth season...
Miss Fisher Season 4... will it happen? We've been waiting on news about a potential fourth season of Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries, the highly addictive Australian drama about a 1920s lady detective for ages now. The feminist Sherlockian drama is a cult hit on Netflix. You probably know at least one person who has watched it — especially if you hang out with some ladies.
So what are the odds of a Season 4? Right now, not good. Essie Davis, who plays the eponymous Phryne Fisher, has relocated to London with her director husband, which has made a fourth season much more difficult to do. (But good for her! She's been getting some meaty, steady gigs in the U.K., including a recurring role on Game of Thrones last season and a starring role on The White Princess this year.) In other words: it's hard to do Miss Fisher without Miss Fisher.
But not all hope is lost. Though it doesn't seem like there will be a Season 4 of Miss Fisher anytime soon, that doesn't mean her story is over. Miss Fisher showrunners Deb Cox and Fiona Eagger have plans for a movie trilogy a la Indiana Jones, and they've already written the first script. The movie will be called Miss Fisher and the Crypt of Tears and Essie Davis and Nathan Page (who plays Jack) have already read it.
Every Cloud Productions, the studio that makes Miss Fisher, is continuing "to develop and pursue financing," so this isn't a sure thing yet, but it definitely seems like a real possibility — especially if Netflix throws some of its massive amounts of money at the project. The streaming content giant has a history of making movies or TV shows from source material that has a massive cult following, but that is underserved by the traditional broadcast model for whatever reason.
