Let's face it: if Stephen King wrote it, it's probably going to turn up on some sort of screen at some point. The latest upcoming TV adaptation is Mr. Mercedes, King's 2014 novel about a retired police detective who is being stalked by a killer. It's very primetime broadcast television, right? Nah, let's give the novel more credit than that. It's still King writing at his very creepiest, as the hardboiled mystery unfolds page after page.

The TV adaptation is coming to the Audience Network from the minds of David E. Kelley (The Practice) and Jack Bender (Under the Dome). It will star Brendan Gleeson (28 Days Later).

Here's everything else we know:

Mr. Mercedes Release Date

Mr. Mercedes is set to premiere in Summer 2017 on the Audience Network.

Mr. Mercedes Cast

According to THR, Brendan Gleeson (Edge of Tomorrow) has been tapped to star in the series. Gleeson plays the role of Detective Bill Hodges, a retired cop who's brought back into the fold after the Mercedes Killer reappears.

Anton Yelchin (Star Trek) had been tapped to play the Mercedes Killer before his tragic death last year. Harry Treadaway, who played Dr. Victor Frankenstein on Penny Dreadful, will replace Yelchin in the role of Brady Hartsfield.

Jharrel Jerome (Moonlight) has been cast in the Mr. Mercedes TV series, according to THR. He will play Jerome Robinson. Here's the character description from THR: "Jerome Robinson, a high school student who does yard work for Hodges (Brendan Gleeson). A good-natured wise guy, Jerome helps Hodges with his computer stuff, and puts up a home surveillance system for him."

Kelly Lynch (Drugstore Cowboy) will play Deborah Harsfield, Holland Taylor (Two and a Half Men) is Ida Silver, Laura Dooling (The Black Forest) is Janice Cray, Scott Lawrence (Legion) is Pete Dixon, and Peyton Wich (Stranger Things) is Danny Wilcox.

Weeds actress Mary-Louise Parker has joined the cast of the Mr. Mercedes TV series from Audience Network. Parker will play Janey Patterson, a "no-nonsense but charming attitude radiates, as does her physical beauty. She's emotionally mature, strong-willed and totally winning," according to the character description from THR.

Mr. Mercedes Writer & Director

Mr. Mercedes will be adapted by David E. Kelley (The Practice) and Jack Bender (Under the Dome), who will also act as executive producers on the show. Kelley will write the pilot and Bender will direct.

"This is an amazing opportunity to adapt a script from material penned by one of the world’s most acclaimed and accomplished authors," said Kelley. "Mr. Mercedes is a great story that will translate beautifully to the screen if I don’t mess it up."

King is also loving the idea: "I’ve admired Jack Bender’s work for years, both as a director on Lost and later, Under the Dome, where he really caught the suspense element. David Kelley is incredibly gifted. I’m excited to work with these amazing talents.”
