The CW's apocalyptic drama will be back in 2018! The 100 Season 5 was renewed!
The 100 season 5 is a go! The CW just announced (via Deadline) that it has picked the apocalyptic drama up for another season. Guess someone has to survive the nuclear apocalypse the gang is currently dealing with in season four. And we thought there was no hope...
The 100's season 5 pick-up is especially noteworthy in the wake of the fandom backlash of season four, which saw many fans leaving the show after the untimely, Bury Your Guys-esque death of fan favorite lesbian character Lexa. It seems The 100 season four has held on to enough of its fandom to warrant a season five.
The 100 creator Jason Rothenberg is expected to remain executive producer and showrunner, though it is worth noting that Rothenberg has a new pilot in contention at The CW. It's called Searchers and, if picked up to series, might warrant some shifting in The 100 leadership. According to Deadline, The 100 could solve this problem by hiring a co-showrunner.

The CW hasn't given us a date yet, but we expect The 100 Season 5 premiere will be in early 2018. We'll update this when we have more info.
