Don't worry, it's renewed. Riverdale Season 2 will be back on the CW before you know it.
Just because the Jason Blossom mystery has been solved, it doesn't mean there isn't more coming in the town of Riverdale. And make no mistake, Riverdale Season 2 is as confirmed as Archie's freckles.
This take on the world of Archie, which is essentially a combination of the melodrama featured on Gossip Girl and the murder mystery setup of Twin Peaks. The approach has been well-received, including by us. Said our reviewer about the pilot episode:
Twenty-one minutes. That's all it takes for Riverdale, The CW's oh-so stylish blend of post-Gossip Girl teen drama and Twin Peaks-inspired mystery, to have Betty (Lili Reinhart) and Veronica (Camila Mendes) begin making out. But like everything in this highly addictive show, there's so much more bubbling under the surface than you initially realize.
Riverdalepulled solid ratings all season long and has developed an increasingly strong social media following. It makes sense that the CW would make Riverdale Season 2 a reality.
Riverdale is the brainchild of Arrowverse architect Greg Berlanti and Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, the writer behind the resurgence of Archie Comics in recent years with great horror comics Afterlife with Archie and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.

The one catch, though, is that Ross Butler won't be back as Reggie Mantle next year, because he'll be busy getting 13 Reasons Why Season 2 ready for Netflix. Instead, Charles Melton (Mr. Wu on American Horror Story: Hotel) is your new Reggie. (thanks to TV Line),
That's not all, Casey Cott, who plays Kevin Keller on the show, has been upped to series regular this time around (again, thanks TV Line!)
Riverdale Release Date
No release date has been set for Riverdale season 2. We do know that Riverdale Season 2 will air on Wednesdays at 8, instead of Thursdays at 9, slipping into Arrow's old slot. And unlike season one, which didn't premiere until January, Riverdale Season 2 will premiere in the fall this time. The CW hasn't officially confirmed yet, but we're penciling in October 3 or October 10. We'll update this when we have more info.
