The first member of the Robinson family boards Netflix’s Lost in Space relaunch.

And the children shall lead. No, that was Star Trek, Judy Robinson, John and Maureen’s oldest child, is the first member of the Robinson family to volunteer to get Lost in Space.
The upcoming Lost in Space remake from Netflix issued a boarding pass to Falling Skies actress Taylor Russell, who will play Judy, the that was originated by Marta Kristen in the original series from the 1960s. Judy Robinson was played by Heather Graham in the 1998 Lost in Space feature film.
Russell played Lark Voorhies in Lifetime network’s Unauthorized Saved by the Bell Story and appeared in the series Strange Empire (2014). Russel also appeared in the film Dead of Night.
Oh the agony. Oh the pain. Netflix will be rebooting the classic cult TV series Lost in Space yet again. Netflix gave a 10-episode series order for a reboot of the classic 60s science-fiction TV series.
“The original series so deftly captured both drama and comedy, and that made it very appealing to a broad audience,” Netflix vice president of original content Cindy Holland said in a statement. “The current creative team’s reimagining of the series for Netflix is sure to appeal to both fans who fondly remember the original and to create a new generation of enthusiasts around the world.”
The Lost in Space reboot is being produced by Legendary Television. The series will be written by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless, who wrote the movies Dracula Untold and Last Witch Hunter. Zack Estrin from Prison Break will be the showrunner. Several episodes will be directed by Neil Marshall, from the production house Applebox, which is producing alongside Synthesis Entertainment’s Kevin Burns and Jon Jashni. Marshal helmed The Descent, Doomsday, and episodes of Game of Thrones and Hannibal.

For those who only remember when Gary Oldman lost his compass, the original 1965 TV series by Irwin Allen ran for three seasons. Loosely based on the Swiss Family Robinson, the series followed the Robinson family as they hurtled through the icy darkness of space after their unwitting and unwilling stowaway Dr. Zachary Smith, played by Jonathan Harris, sabotaged their navigation system.
The original CBS series was set in 1997. The Robinsons’ spaceship was called the Jupiter 2. But the breakout star of Lost in Space originated in Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer’s classic science fiction film Forbidden Planet, the robot is a cousin to Robby the Robot, the clinking, clanking, caliginous godfather of C3PO and R2D2, who was voiced by Dick Tufeld. As any Rocky Horror Picture Show fan knows, Anne Francis starred in Forbidden Planet.
The 1998 feature reboot starred William Hurt, Gary Oldman, Matt LeBlanc, Heather Graham and Mimi Rogers.
The original episodes of Lost In Space were released on Blu-ray last September. They came in a box set called Lost In Space: The Complete Adventures in honor of its 50th anniversary.
