Amazon Orders The Tick and Jean-Claude Van Johnson to Series

All three of Amazon's half-hour comedy pilots, trialled this August by the streaming service, have been picked up to series.

That means Ben Edlund's The Tick, featuring Peter Serafinowicz as the insectoid superhero and Griffin Newman as his human-in-a-bunny-oops-we-mean-moth-suit sidekick Arthur, will have the chance to finish the story started in the pilot. 

Joining The Tickwill be action-movie spoof Jean-Claude Van Johnson, starring Jean-Claude Van Damme as a fictionalised version of himself whose movie career is simply the cover for his international black agent gig. 

And finally, the half-hour comedy I Love Dick(make sure Safe Search is on before you Google that one) featuring Kathryn Hahn and Kevin Bacon in a story of an unravelling marriage and a charismatic university professor, will also proceed to a full series. Transparent's Jill Soloway is behind that one. 

Congratulations to all three pilots, and commiserations to the rest of us who are now tasked with hollowing out even more space for promising shows in our already-overstuffed TV schedules. Hooray!
