Twin Peaks Revival News:
10/1/2016 -- Twin Peaks is getting another major addition, the return of Grammy-winning composer Angelo Badalamenti. He'll bring the iconic sound back for the revival after writing the theme music for the original run. Showtime released a video to mark the occasion.
4/25/2016 -- Speaking at the TCA press tour, Showtime boss David Nevins revealed that shooting is ahead of schedule for Twin Peaks. Half the season has already been shot, meaning we'll likely see Twin Peaks in early 2017.
Nevins told EW that he’s seen about 25 minutes of cut-together footage in an editing room. “It was stupendous," he told EW, "It was incredibly exciting. I don’t want to sit here and overhype it, but I was incredibly excited. You definitely felt like you were in the hands of a master.”
It's been a soap opera, but the Twin Peaks revival is finally on track. Production on the new season of Mark Frost and David Lynch's damn fine cult drama is underway. Earlier this year, the Twin Peaks revival was officially pushed back until 2017. So maybe the hashtags were a bit ambitious. CBS head honcho Les Moonves confirmed the news to Variety, though if you followed your leads like Dale Cooper, you'd have seen this coming for some time.
It's been quite a year for Twin Peaks fans. First, it seemed as though David Lynch left production only a few months after the continuation on Showtime had been announced. Then Showtime and Lynch reconciled, and the auteur was back. Now in the process of filming, we'll be constantly updating this hub as your souce for Twin Peaks news.
Twin Peaks Revival Premiere Date
An official premiere date is TBA. During the summer, co-creator Mark Frost, during a visit to the National Baseball Hall of Fame of all places, gave an update on the show: "We’re coming back with season three of Twin Peaks after a 25-year absence. We’ve finished the scripts, we start production in September, and that will be coming out on Showtime sometime in 2017."
The reason 2016 was pegged as the ideal time for the revival was because it marked 25 years after the final episode aired. They'll now have to settle for 26.
Well, at least we know it's definitely happening. For now.
