Fox’s The Last Man on Earth wins points each week for daring to defy conventional sitcom logic. Much of the heavy lifting, as we’ve learned, comes from the steady hands of executive producer and star Will Forte, who consistently challenges his writing staff and actors to retain from being too “Sitcom-y.” It’s made the series--from executive producers Forte, Phil Lord, Chris Miller, Seth Cohen and Andy Bobrow--stand out in a crowded field, and that’s enough for Fox to justify the pickup of The Last Man on Earth season 3.
