The terrifying Slenderman is getting an HBO documentary. Check out the trailer.

Memes proved to play a particularly horrifying role in this year’s election, but the scariest one of all is getting a closer look on HBO. Back in 2009, Eric Knudsen created a meme called The Slender Man, a faceless man in a suit with lanky arms who stalks children. It spread as internet folklore, the faceless face of internet creepypasta, and allegedly influenced a series of real-life crimes from 2014 to 2015.
One of those crimes is the centerpiece of HBO’s new documentary Beware The Slenderman, which premieres in January. The documentary will follow the story of Morgan Geyser and Anissa Weier, the 12-year-olds from Wisconsin who were accused of stabbing a classmate 19 times in 2014 after admitting to becoming mesmerized by stories of Slender Man they read online.
Beware The Slenderman was directed by Irene Taylor Brodsky and was an official selection at SXSW. It premieres January 23rd. You can watch the trailer here:
