Walking Dead showrunner thinks a movie adaptation of the zombie drama will happen "one way or another."

While there's no end in sight for The Walking Dead, the show that proved that you can stretch out a zombie drama for longer than a feature-length film, there's no doubt that the beloved series will end eventually. After all, there's only so many years an actor is willing to commit to a TV series. The time will come when Andrew Lincoln, Norman Reedus, Danai Gurira (who was just cast in Marvel's Black Panther movie) et al will want to move on to other projects.
The end of The Walking Dead is inevitable, which is coincidentally exactly what current showrunner Scott Gimple thinks about a possible Walking Deadmovie. When Comicbook.com asked Gimple about the possibility of a movie adaptation of the hit series/comic, he seemed pretty optimistic about it: "That question comes up every now and again. I'm sure one way or another, one day, it'll happen. I think it would be cool."
Of course, don't take this as a confirmation that a movie is in the works. The show has been renewed for an eigth season, and will probably keep gettting renewed as long as its ratings continue to dominate Sunday night television. Not to mention that AMC pretty much produces three or four Walking Dead TV movies a year with 90-minute episode season premieres and finales, anyway.
In the same interview, Gimple joked that a reboot movie could cast actors from other hit shows that are potential movie reboot fodder: "William Shatner as Rick. We'll get Edward James Olmos as Daryl. Hit all the big shows!" Gimple joked about a potential reboot on the big screen. "Matthew Fox as the Governor!"
Yeah, don't expect that movie anytime soon...but maybe expect it one day...
