James Wan jerry-rigs the humor to go along with the big bangs in first MacGyver Trailer
Angus MacGyver has a new boss, a hacker, some muscle and a new best friend in the first trailer for the reboot of TV’s Mr. Fixit secret agent.The new series finds MacGyver putting together a "clandestine organization within the U.S. government where he uses his extraordinary talent for unconventional problem solving and vast scientific knowledge to save lives."
CBS’s MacGyver reboot stars Lucas Till in the role made famous by Richard Dean Anderson. The series is being produced by the ever-inventive James Wan (The Conjuring, Insidious, Fast & Furious), who will direct a new pilot for the rebooted action series.
The first MacGyver pilot was reportedly a little too heavy handed and didn’t go over that well. Wan told fans at San Diego Comic-Con that he had just begun shooting the pilot after an overhaul that included casting changes and a new haircut for Till. The new trailer promises some jokes along with new things to do with chewing gum and tin foil.
According to the official synopsis:
"A reimagining of the classic series, CBS’ MacGyver is an action-adventure drama and revolves around 20-something Angus “Mac” MacGyver (Till), who creates a clandestine organization within the U.S. government where he uses his extraordinary talent for unconventional problem solving and vast scientific knowledge to save lives. Joining his team on high-risk missions around the globe is maverick former CIA agent Jack Dalton (George Eads). At home, MacGyver is entertained by his ambitious roommate, Wilt Bozer (Justin Hires). Under the aegis of the Department of External Services, MacGyver takes on the responsibility of saving the world, armed to the teeth with resourcefulness and little more than bubble gum and a paper clip."
The new MacGyver premieres on September 23rd.
