When does Steven Universe return? The newest Stevenbomb promises answers to some of the shows long running mysteries!
Steven Universe has a tendency to take long breaks and then come back with a deluge of episodes that have to be known as "Stevenbombs". The upcoming return of the show is no exception, with five new episodes to air starting January 30th, 2017. Those episode airdates and descriptions are below. Thanks to the Geekiary for this info.
- Monday, Jan. 30: “Steven’s Dream” – A strange dream prompts Steven to search for answers.
- Monday, Jan. 30: “Adventures in Light Distortion” – Steven and the Gems take off on a search and recovery mission.
- Tuesday, Jan. 31: “Gem Heist” – The Gems try to pull off a heist.
- Wednesday, Feb. 1: “The Zoo” – Steven visits a special zoo.
- Thursday, Feb. 2: “That Will Be All” – Steven and the Gems make a daring escape!
Accompanying these descriptions was also a photo released by the official Steven Universefacebook page with the description of,"This January, Steven's Universe gets a little bigger."
With the vague descriptions for these upcoming answers and the promise of "answers," is Steven Universe about to ramp up its story? For those not deeply familar with the shows mythoogy, the object seen in the preview image is a Palanquin, first named in the episode "Buddy's Book." That episode quickly glossed over it, but it's cleary important to the shows long running arc.
We've also previously seen one in the episode "The Answer." In that adventure, a Palanquin carried Blue Diamond.
With these clues, could that Palanquin belong to the infamous Pink Diamond? It certainly has the pink color scheme. Although it's also surrounded by roses... Could Steven's mom have something to do with this? Rose did lead the rebellion so perhaps the rose's around the Palanquin have to do with her? Is she more closely tied to Pink Diamond then fans thought?
Could the Palanquin transport the Gems to another colony or even the Gem homeworld? The final episode in the week concerning a "daring escape" makes it sound like it, but we won't know until the episodes air. Stay tuned to Den of Geek for all things Steven Universe.
