There’s something about the Havana moon that makes you want to grab a bottle of rum and rock and roll, to dance and sing, according to the classic Chuck Berry song. The Rolling Stones flipped hearts in Cuba’s capital city the very President Obama became the first American President to visit the country in 88 years. Obama was just a warm up. The president visited a small group of dignitaries and nationals. The Stones played to over a million people, for free, on Good Friday 2016. The Pope wasn’t crazy about the timing, but rock, roll and blues legends didn’t miss a beat.

Starz will exclusively debut the U.S. television premiere of the tour documentary  on Sunday, January 15, 2017 and will run the historic concert documentary Havana Moon a week later, on Sunday, January 22.

Directed by Paul Dugdale (Adele Live at the Royal Albert Hall, One Direction: Where We Are – The Concert Film, Coldplay: Ghost Stories), The Rolling Stones Olé Olé Olé!: A Trip Across Latin America was shot during February and March 2016 of the Stones’ tour. The film recently premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival.

The Rolling Stones Olé Olé Olé!: A Trip Across Latin America documentary is an “intimate insight into the world of the Rolling Stones while following their  tour in early 2016 through 10 Latin American cities, combining electrifying live performances from across the tour as well as their historic tour finale in Havana, Cuba,” according to their press statement. “The documentary gives an inside look at the interworking of the creation of the historic Cuba show, through interviews with the tour promoter, management, production and logistics managers, and the band members themselves.”

The full final concert is caught on Havana Moon. The Cuban tour was the first time a foreign rock band has ever played the country. Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts, Ronnie Wood and their Chicago-born bass player Darryl Jones “mesmerized generations of fans.” The band played classic hits including “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction,” “It’s Only Rock ‘n’ Roll,” “Wild Horses,” “Honky Tonk Women,” “Sympathy For The Devil,” “Paint It Black” and “Miss You.”

The Rolling Stones Olé Olé Olé!: A Trip Across Latin America is produced by Sam Bridger (Shirley Bassey at the BBC, Psychedelic Britannia, The Rolling Stones: Sweet Summer Sun – Hyde Park Live) and JA Digital in co-production with Eagle Rock Films for Eagle Rock Entertainment and Promotone.
