Once attached to direct the reboot of The Crow, Corin Hardy will direct The Nun for New Line.
The horror business is booming. It seems like if a movie isn’t a superhero or franchise film then it has no chance at the box office. But horror films, on their modest budgets, continually surpass expectations and seem like a sturdy ROI for studios. Many new franchises have even begun to pop-up, and few have been more successful critically or commercially than The Conjuring franchise, which is gearing up for another spin-off with The Nun.
The ghastly star of The Conjuring 2 will get her own flick, and it turns out that Corin Hardy, who was once tied to helm Relativity’s troubled The Crow reboot, will be in the director’s chair. The Nun is written by Gary Dauberman and franchise creator James Wan, with Wan and Peter Safran producing.
The Nun is set to begin production in March. Now free from The Crow, Hardy’s next project is the action film Hell Bent described as “Dirty Dozen Goes To Hell.” The film centers on mercenaries who go to hell to kill Satan, which sounds absolutely ridiculous but also like a lot of fun.
The Nun will open on Friday, July 13th, 2018.
