Designated Survivor Season 2 has been confirmed by ABC, but the line of succession for the highest office at the show continues to grow. ABC’s political thriller is once again replacing its showrunner. Keith Eisner, an executive producer on The Good Wife, will be the series' fourth showrunner. Eisner is also credited on Law & Order, Gilmore Girls, and NYPD Blue. Ahead of the Designated Survivor season 2 renewal, the previous showrunner Jeff Melvoi departed the series.
Designated Survivor’s original showrunner was Amy B. Harris, who was replaced with Jon Harmon Feldman after the pilot was picked up. Feldman left the show in December after inking an overall deal with ABC Studios. Melvoi has helmed the show since, but he’ll be leaving a series that has performed well for ABC.
The series is executive produced by and stars Kiefer Sutherland as the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development who is thrust into the presidency after a terrorist attacks kills everyone in the line of succession before him.
