Teen-horror show Freakish is making the jump from AwesomenessTV to Hulu.
Come this fall, Hulu is adding AwesomenessTV’s teen-horror show FREAKISHto their lineup, and the first official teaser is here...so get ready for some fright.
After a meltdown at the local chemical plant, a group of high school students fight to survive mutant creatures that have taken over. The teaser does not give much away but it sure looks creepy. It seems that the students have barricaded themselves in somewhere and have to hold up there because all the mutant freaks are running around outside.
The trailer opens with a shot of a steel door which for some reason looks, to me, reminiscent of every SAWmovie ever.
The entire 10-episode series is set to drop on Monday, October 10th. FREAKISH stars Youtubers Liza Koshy, Meghan Rienks, Hayes Grier and Melvin Gregg. Also joining the cast are Leo Howard (Kickin’ It) and Aislinn Paul (Heroes Reborn).
FREAKISH was created by AwesomenessTV’s Beth Szymkowski and will be executive produced by the CEO of AwesomenessTV, Brian Robbins, Shelly Zimmerman ( Head of scripted series), Matt Lewis, Chris Grismer and produced by Scott Levine. The FREAKISH pilot script was written by Szymkowski and will be directed by Grismer.
Hulu is set to run a special launch week for the series called #FreakWeek. As part of the promotion, The FREAKISH Tumblr page will show two new episodes of AwesomenessTV’s Halloween event series every day from October 10th to the 14th. #FreakWeek gives fans and viewers the option to watch FREAKISH for free on Tumblr for a limited time. Alternatively, viewers can stream the entire series on Hulu.
FREAKISHlooks like the love child of The Walking Dead, Cloverfieldand Planet of the Apes, except that it is very teen-centric. Judging by the cast and the launch, it looks like social media is going to play a rather large role in the series from the way it can be viewed to the episodes themselves.
