Who had 2017 as the year Greg Berlanti would officially take over television? The man behind Arrow-verse and Blindspot just sold another pilot to The CW for development. The show is called Casa and it is about six siblings in a Hispanic family who have to figure out their lives when their parents are unjustly deported.

Casa is written by Ed Gonzalez and Jeremy Haft, who also executive produce along with Berlanti Productions' Berlanti and Sarah Schechter. According to Deadline, the writing duo got their big break as part of the 2014 Fox Writers Intensive Fellowship program that not only helped them develop their script, but also led to staffing on Empire season one.

Though Casa may seem like an unusual project for the producer best known nowadays for his superhero fare, in many ways, it has much more in common with Berlanti's early TV work than Arrow or The Flash do. Berlanti got his start in the writers room for Dawson's Creek before moving on to create other family dramas like Everwood and Jack & Bobby.

This TV season, Berlanti will have six shows on the air: Arrow, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, Supergirl, Blindspot, and Riverdale. In addition to Casa, Berlanti has two other pilots with production commitments: Black Lightning (Fox) and Deception (ABC). Other Berlanti pilots in various stages of commitment and/or development include: Criminal (ABC),Raised by Wolves (ABC), and The Marquis (ABC). It's not an overstatement to say that Berlanti is one of the most powerful people in television.
