Supernatural Season 12 Episode Guide
Where will the perennial pulse-pounder go next? Well, it seems, inward — albeit in a good way, focusing on the family drama left in the aftermath of season 11 finale "Alpha and Omega," when a repentant Amara/The Darkness gave Dean the "gift" of resurrection in the form of bringing back the Winchester siblings' long-dead mother Mary.
However, back at the Men of Letters bunker, Sam was left in a bit of a pickle when confronted by a mysterious woman representing the ancient society's British branch, brandishing a gun, and pulling the trigger! What happens next? Here's our episode guide...

Supernatural Season 12 Trailer
The first substantive teaser clip for Supernatural Season 12 has hit, showcasing an intriguing new dynamic.
Revoking the (kind of) cliffhanger status from one of Season 11's closing moments, we are treated to a bit of good news, since we see that Sam is still alive! – Albeit tortured, gagged and tied up in the back of a trunk. We also get to see the freshly-resurrected Mary Winchester in action, quickly picking up her Hunter legacy and kicking ass. However, the clear prime cut of this clip is the first offered glimpse of Rick Springfield’s version of Lucifer, who clearly isn’t letting go of his habit of tormenting poor Crowley! – At least he's not making him lick the floors... yet.

Supernatural Season 12 Cast & Characters
Alicia: Variety reports that Kara Royster of Freeform’s murderously lascivious, long-running teen drama Pretty Little Liars has signed up for a Season 12 guest role as “Alicia.” While the character was raised by a witch, it seems that she has made the ultimate act of rebellion by becoming a full-blown monster-slaying Hunter along with her brother Max.
Aaron Bass: It’s been a few years, but Adam Rose will reprise his role as Aaron Bass. Fans may remember Aaron from back in the Season 8 episode “Everybody Hates Hitler” as the legacy to the Jewish paranormal-occult studying society the Judah Initiative. He was embroiled in a fight with a monstrous occult Neo-Nazi group the Thule Society; an ordeal for which he received help from the powerful Golem protector he inherited from his murdered grandfather. However, a Season 12 episode will reportedly up the ante in that long-dormant battle, this time thwarting the Thules’ plot to resurrect Hitler.
Lucifer: It appears that Season 12 will be giving us a version of the Devil himself who famously longed for “Jessie’s Girl,” when not playing a doctor on TV. Indeed, it was revealed at Comic-Con that the one and only Rick Springfield will play the latest meat suit iteration of Lucifer! While fans got attached to Mark Pellegrino’s version of the fallen angel Light Bringer himself, that was only just a meat suit of a desperate willing human. Season 11 saw the ultimate enemy temporarily make a home in the body of angel Castiel and now an 80's rock legend nabs the role!
Mary Winchester: Thanks to a bizarre gesture from Amara, Season 12 will finally see Samantha Smith get a proper Supernatural run as the resurrected Mary Winchester. The character had numerous cameos over the course of the show’s 11 seasons as visions, shapeshifted impersonations, with even a younger version played by Amy Gumenick in time-travel episodes. However, the 1983-set memory from the show’s 2005 pilot episode showing Smith’s version of the Winchesters’ beloved matriarch raised to a bedroom ceiling and burned to death remains the brothers' primary motivation for hunting. Now, we get to see the show's traditional Mary as the formidable Hunter legacy that we’d later learn about over the years.
Russell Lemmons: Kadeem Hardison has been cast in SupernaturalSeason 12 as Russell Lemmons (via TVLine) "a man from Crowley's past who has put a lot of thought into Lucifer's future." Lemmons is a music bigwig who has big plans for the latest Lucifer incarnation: rocker Vince Vincente (played by Rick Springfield). Do with this information what you will. Hardison is a veteran TV actor who has previously appeared in A Different World, Girlfriends, and House. He currently plays Craig, the secret agent dad, on Disney Channel's K.C. Undercover.
Supernatural Season 12 Showrunner
Supernatural Season 12 will be happening on CW, but with a new showrunner. TV Line reports that current showrunner Jeremy Carver is stepping down to focus on Frequency(which was just given a series order). He'll be replaced by the team of Robert Singer and Andrew Dabb.
Back in March, CW handed out renewal slips to Jane the Virgin (Season 3), Crazy Ex-Girlfriend (Season 2), The Flash (Season 3), iZombie(Season 3), Arrow(Season 5), DC's Legends of Tomorrow (Season 2), The 100(Season 4), The Vampire Diaries (Season 8), The Originals (Season 4), Reign (Season 4) and, of course, The CW’s longest running scripted show, Supernatural, which will spook audiences into Season 12.
Supernaturalwas created by Eric Kripke. It premiered on The WB network on September 13, 2005. The show stars Jared Padalecki as Sam Winchester and Jensen Ackles as Dean Winchester, two brothers who barely get to eat a home cooked meal because they are usually on the road chasing all manner of demons, ghosts and monsters.
CW head Mark Pedowitz must really love Supernatural. Normal people, they see a monster, and they run. He has reportedly said on many occasions that the show will continue as long as Ackles and Padalecki want to do it and they don’t look they’ll be stopping any time soon.
“Both Jared and Jensen are having a blast, and as long as they have a blast, it’s a great thing,” Pedowitz told reporters at the Television Critics Association winter press tour in January (via Variety).

“If they can keep delivering stories, and the numbers keep holding, and the guys want to do it, we’re going to try to keep going,” Pedowitz said at the TCA press tour. “I can’t tell you if there will be a season 12 yet. I can’t tell you if there will be a season 15 yet. I can’t tell you if it won’t outlast my tenure at the CW. My guess is it will outlast me.”
